Philadelphia
Flight – Most of the major airlines
fly into and out of Philadelphia on a somewhat regular
basis. Flights from most of the eastern coast of American
should be relatively brief, a flight cross country
from the west will be brutal, but because on Philadelphia’s
location a transatlantic flight to Philadelphia is,
on average a tolerable 13 hours.
The most important thing to mention about Flying
to Philadelphia is this - Always fly directly
into the city. There are other air ports close by,
both in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, which are often
cheaper to land at, but this is a mistake. If you
come in from New Jersey, you have to navigate their
less then stellar public transportation or rent a
car to get into the city, and you don’t want
to be stuck on the New Jersey highways behind a pile
up or commuter traffic trying to get into the city
on your vacation.
Coming
in from the Pennsylvania side is
also a traffic nightmare, but from there you will
end up on the Pennsylvania turn pike with multiple
exits, all labeled Philadelphia, many of which will
get you lost if you don’t know the city well.
If you choose to fly into another airport and drive
into the city, make sure to get good directions from
a reliable source such as the tourist bureau or the
rental company you get your car from.
Avoid New Jersey Public Transportation
because you are most likely to end up lost. Not to
mention you will have to get on a bus or train and
then most likely walk to the ferry station and then
cross the water into the city that way. An unnecessarily
costly endeavor. Pennsylvania public transportation
is better, but only because you are trying to enter
into one of the larger cities in the state. Most public
transportation revolves around states major cities.
